Srinagar: With J&K’s match against Chhatisgarh affected by bad weather and J&K failing to earn first inning lead points, Odisha has pushed J&K back to second place on the points table of Ranji Trophy Elite Group-C.
Before the start of Round 7 matches, J&K was standing at number one place on points table with 32 points and Odisha at second place with 28. After the end of the Round 7, Odisha has jumped to number one place with 35 points while as J&K one step back at second place with 33 points. From Chhattisgarh match, J&K got only one point while as Odisha from its match against Assam bagged seven points.
Despite being only side in entire group to remain unbeaten so far J&K is yet not sure of its place in next round. The two rain affected matches in Jammu has delayed its entry into next round.
There was some luck for J&K in the Round 7 as the third and fourth placed sides Jharkhand and Haryana didn’t had favorable results. While Haryana match was affected by rain, Jharkhand lost to Services. At third place in the group is now Services with 26 points while as Haryana is at fourth place with 24. Jharkhand has been pushed back to fifth place with 22 points.
J&K’s next match is against Tripura and then they will take on Haryana in their last match of the group. The match against Tripura is must win for the team now to make sure their place in next round.
