Srinagar, December 10: With the motive to change it’s selection policy, Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) are in talks with former cricketers Shoaib Akhtar and Rashid Latif for the post if chief selector.
This was reported by ARY Sports quoting sources that the former cricketer duo are in contention to be next Pakistan cricket team chief selector.
As per report , Rashid was not taking the role due to his commitment with the PTV Sports but now his and Akhtar’s contract have been terminated a few days ago.
PCB contacted both individuals after they lost jobs on state TV and the final agreement is likely to take place in the upcoming days, report further said.
Misbah-ul-Haq’s tenure as chief selector ended on November 30th and PCB is in search of his replacement.
The Pakistan national selection committee comprising of provincial coaches has also come to an end and the PCB has decided to change selection policy.
PCB has opted to form a traditional selection committee again and it will consist of three to four members along with the chief selector. Former Test cricketer Mohammad Akram is also a strong candidate for the new chief selector.
