MONG KOK (Hong Kong Sixes 2025 Final): Pakistan delivered a commanding performance to outclass Kuwait by 44 runs and lift the Hong Kong Sixes 2025 championship at the Mission Road Ground on Sunday.
Pakistan’s Explosive Batting Display
Opting to bat first, Pakistan unleashed a batting onslaught, piling up a massive 135 for 3 in just six overs — one of the highest totals in the tournament.
Captain Abbas Afridi led from the front with a jaw-dropping 52 runs off just 11 balls, smashing seven towering sixes before retiring hurt due to injury. His power-packed innings set the tone for Pakistan’s dominance.
Abdul Samad followed suit with an aggressive 42 off 13 balls, while Khawaja Nafay added a rapid 22 from 6 deliveries, as Pakistan’s top order dismantled the Kuwaiti bowling attack with relentless hitting.
Despite Meet Bhavsar’s valiant effort of claiming three wickets, Kuwait’s bowlers struggled to contain Pakistan’s explosive run rate of 22.5 runs per over.
Kuwait’s Brave Response Falls Short
Chasing a daunting target of 136, Kuwait showed resilience but could only reach 92 runs in five overs.
Bhavsar once again impressed, remaining not out on 33, while Adnan Idrees chipped in with a fiery 30 runs.
However, Pakistan’s disciplined bowling sealed the deal — Maaz Sadaqat shone with 3 wickets for 29, while Abbas Afridi and Muhammad Shahzad picked up one wicket each to complete a dominant performance.
Semi-Final Thriller Against Australia
Earlier in the day, Pakistan edged past Australia in a nail-biting semi-final thriller, winning by just one run.
Khawaja Nafay was the hero of that clash, hammering a stunning 50 off 14 balls, propelling Pakistan to 121 for 2.
Tight bowling in the final overs ensured Pakistan’s victory and paved their way to the final showdown.
Champions Once Again
With this victory, Pakistan reaffirmed their dominance in the Hong Kong Sixes format, combining explosive batting with sharp bowling to capture the 2025 crown in emphatic fashion.
