Musaif, Kanhaiya innings in vain as Mumbai beat J&K by 5-wkts

Srinagar, Dec 1: Kanhaiya Wadhawan and Musaif Ajaz’s superb batting display went in vain as Musheer Khan’s power-packed 172 runs guide Mumbai to a 5-wicket win over J&K in the U-25 State A Trophy match at Railway Cricket Ground Rajkot today.
Mumbai finished top of the group with win in all matches.J&K finished second and will take on Railways in the pre-quarterfinals at Rajkot on December 4.

Earlier, batting first, J&K rode on a brilliant batting display by skipper Kanhaiya Wadhawan and promising Musaif Ajaz to set a big total of 317 runs in the stipulated 50 overs. Musaif scored 88 runs off 105 balls, studded with 9 fours and 2 sixes, while Kanhaiya also contributed 88 off just 61 balls with the help of 7 fours and one six. Both the batters showed extraordinary batting skills to notch up big fifties. Kawal Preet Singh also made 56 runs off 73 balls including 5 boundaries, while Shivansh Sharma and Vivrant Sharma contributed 24 and 22 runs to the total respectively.
For Mumbai, Khazir Dafedar took 3 wickets, while Saksham claimed one.

In reply, Mumbai chased the target easily in 39.1 overs by losing 5 wickets to script the victory by 5 wickets. Musheer Khan scored 172 off 113 balls, studded with 24 fours and 5 sixes, while Divyaansh contributed 59 runs off 42 balls with 11 boundaries. Suryansh Shedge also contributed 33 runs to the total.
For J &K, spinners Vivrant Sharma and Taizeem Younis Tak bagged 2 wickets each, while medium pacer Manit claimed one wicket.
