Mohammad Rizwan appointed Pakistan T20 vice-captain; Shadab reacts

Srinagar: PCB has appointed Mohammad Rizwan as Pakistan T20 Vice-Captain, replacing Shadab Khan who is recovering from injury.

Rizwan will be Shaheen Afridi’s deputy during the upcoming five-match T20I series against New Zealand scheduled from 12 to 21 January in Auckland, Hamilton, Dunedin and Christchurch.

Rizwan will be taking all-rounder Shadab Khan’s place who is out of team due to injury.

The star all-rounder has reacted to the appointment of Rizwan by congratulating the wicketkeeper batter.

“Congratulations Rizwan on being named the vice-captain of the T20I team. I know you will be a brilliant deputy to Shaheen Afridi,” Shadab Khan posted on X while wishing the keeper all the best.

“I urge all the fans to get behind them and support the team vs NZ,” he added.

Earlier today, Pakistan team reached Auckland from Sydney ahead of the series against New Zealand.

Pakistan recently suffered a 3-0 whitewash at the hands of Australia in a Test series down under.
