ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s experienced Test seamer Mohammad Abbas continued his superb domestic form, claiming yet another five-wicket haul for Lahore Region Whites against Multan Region in the ongoing Quaid-e-Azam Trophy 2025-26 on Friday.
After Lahore opted to bowl first, Abbas struck early with trademark precision, removing captain Zain Abbas for a duck and Waqar Hussain for just one run to leave Multan tottering at 3-2. His relentless accuracy and movement off the pitch never allowed the batters to settle, as Multan were eventually dismissed for 164 in 43.4 overs.
Abbas finished with sensational figures of 5-32 from 15.4 overs, registering his second consecutive five-for following a 6-78 spell against Karachi Blues earlier in the week — a performance that brought up his 50th five-wicket haul in First-Class cricket.
All-rounder Aamir Jamal chipped in with 3-58, while Arafat Minhas offered some late resistance for Multan with a 51-ball 45.
At 35, Abbas remains one of Pakistan’s most consistent red-ball performers. He now stands joint-second on the season’s wicket chart with 18 wickets at 20.94, just behind Sialkot’s Athar Mahmood (19 at 16.42).
With 825 wickets in 205 First-Class matches at an average of 20.66, Abbas joins elite company as only the third fast bowler this century to claim 50 or more five-wicket hauls, alongside Abdur Rauf (57) and James Anderson (55).
