MCA President Passes Away After Attending India vs Pakistan Match in New York

Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) President Amol Kale tragically passed away due to a cardiac arrest in New York, USA, on Monday. Kale had been in New York to watch the highly anticipated India vs Pakistan match at Nassau County Stadium on Sunday. He attended the match alongside MCA secretary Ajinkya Naik and office-bearer Suraj Samat.

During his tenure, Kale oversaw significant achievements, including the successful hosting of World Cup 2023 fixtures at Wankhede Stadium, highlighted by the semifinal clash between India and New Zealand. His popular popcorn initiative during the tournament garnered widespread acclaim.

Kale’s leadership also saw the Mumbai cricket team clinch the Ranji Trophy in the 2023-24 season. He was an influential member of the core committee for the Street Premier League and had plans to revive the Mumbai T20 League.

Under Kale’s administration, the MCA made a groundbreaking decision to ensure that Mumbai players received match fees on par with those given by the BCCI.

Following Kale’s untimely death, vice-president Sankay Naik is expected to take interim charge of the Mumbai Cricket Association.
