Kylian Mbappe makes Real Madrid move in free transfer

Srinagar: In a massive announcement, Real Madrid on Monday said that French football superstar Kylian Mbappe as their first summer signing on a free transfer as the eight-year wait finally came to an end.

Mbappe signed a five-year deal with the club which will keep him at the Spanish club till 2029.

Mbappe, 25, bid farewell to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) after seven years and winning 14 trophies including six league titles. However, he couldn’t take his team to European glory as despite coming very close to winning in 2020, they lost to Bayern Munich in the Champions League final.

“Kylian Mbappe is a new Real Madrid player. He comes to the European champion a world star, who at 25 years old has just had his highest scoring season with Paris Saint-Germain (44 goals) and has been top scorer in the French League for the sixth consecutive edition (27 goals),” Real Madrid said in a statement.

“Our team is reinforced by a spectacular striker, captain of the French team, with which he became world champion in 2018 and of the Nations League in 2021, in which he scored the winning goal. In the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, Mbappé won the Golden Boot with 8 goals and, after his hat-trick in the final, he became the top scorer in history in World Cup finals (4).”

Mbappe reacted minutes after his transfer to Madrid was confirmed saying that he has joined the club of his dreams.

“A dream come true. So happy and proud to join the club of my dreams [Real Madrid]. Nobody can understand how excited I am right now. Can’t wait to see you, Madridistas, and thanks for your unbelievable support,” Mbappe posted on his socia media accounts.

Madrid were after Mbappe since the time he used to play for AS Monaco but the Frenchman joined PSG on a loan deal initially which was then converted into a permanent one for a €120m deal.
