Kashmir players bag medals in National Powerlifting championship

Srinagar, December 22: Making Kashmir proud the six Kashmir based Powerlifting athletes have bagged medals in the 45th Senior National Powerlifting championship that was held in New Delhi from December 19 to 22.

In the competition, athletes from all over Country participated and from Kashmir seven players took part. Out of seven players, six bagged medals that included four gold and two silver medals.

Sameer Ahmad Parray bagged gold in 56-kilogram junior category in Deadlift while as Inayatullah Khan bagged gold in 75-kilogram senior category. Basit Hamid bagged gold in 82-kilogram junior category while as Mudasir Wali bagged gold in 110 kilogram senior category.

Mouzam Parveez bagged silver medal in 75-kilogram junior category while as Kaiser Nabi bagged silver in 90-kilogram senior category. Muhammad Sufiyan Bhat was other participant.

The players participated in the event under the banner of Kashmir Sports Powerlifting Association.

J&K Sports Council weightlifting coach Showkat Majeed Narwari hailed players for shining a such high level and said that upcoming players have lot if talent. He said that players have been selected for International competitions and he is hopefully that they would be able to get sponsorships for that.
