Jon Jones Teases Readiness for Potential Superfight Against Alex Pereira

New York: UFC icon Jon Jones has delivered a major update regarding a potential blockbuster showdown with Alex Pereira, revealing that he is already preparing physically and is waiting for the UFC to make the final call.

Jones’ interest in facing Pereira surged after the Brazilian star spectacularly regained the UFC light heavyweight title in his rematch against Magomed Ankalaev at UFC 320 on October 4. Pereira, who previously lost the belt to Ankalaev via unanimous decision in March, returned with a dominant and aggressive approach.

Pereira’s Brutal Knockout Earned Him Historic Status

In their rematch at T-Mobile Arena, Pereira charged forward from the opening bell and overwhelmed Ankalaev with relentless pressure. Just 1 minute and 20 seconds into the first round, referee Herb Dean stopped the bout after Pereira landed a devastating right hand that badly rocked the Russian. As Ankalaev attempted to grapple, Pereira followed him to the canvas and delivered heavy strikes to the head and body, forcing the stoppage.

By recapturing the title, Pereira became the first fighter since Jon Jones in 2018 to reclaim the light heavyweight championship — a feat that immediately fueled speculation of a potential superfight.

Shortly after the victory, Pereira announced his intention to move up to heavyweight to pursue a marquee clash with Jones.

Jon Jones Responds: “I’m Lean, in Shape, and Ready”

Jones, who welcomed the challenge earlier, has now revealed that he is already preparing for the potential matchup.

“It’s a little bit out of my hands. I’m getting in shape, I’m lean and completely capable of hopping into a training camp,” Jones said. “I guess time will tell. Either way, life is good.”

With both fighters eager and the fans calling for one of the most electrifying matchups in UFC history, the decision now rests with the promotion.
