J&K’s Rubia Syed picked in India ‘A’ for Challenger Trophy

Jammu and Kashmir’s Rubia Syed was on Thursday picked in India ‘A’ team for the upcoming Senior Women’s T20 Challenger Trophy, KSW learned.

Rubia did well in the recent Senior Women’s T20 Trophy to earn this call-up. She will be part of the Harleen Deol-led India ‘A’ team.

The right-handed batter has been around for a long time and performed decently for J&K across the formats. She is one of the rare batters in the Indian women’s circuit who can play at a staggering strike rate.

However, Rubia is yet to land a Women’s Premier League (WPL) contract. The tournament could open the doors for her to make an impression for herself before the upcoming WPL Auction.

Interstingly, Rubia is the only J&K to batter to have hit a hundred in Senior Women One-Days. She is capable of bowling some medium pace as well.
