Jammu and Kashmir on Monday thrashed Meghalaya by 8 wickets to register their first win in the ongoing Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy 2023.
Batting first, Meghalaya could only make 107-4 in the allotted 20 overs. J&K bowlers bowled tight lines and lengths from the word go, ensuring Meghalaya batters don’t get any freebies.
Rasikh Salam, who looked unplayable, picked up three wickets by giving away only 13 runs in his four overs. Nasir Lone also picked up a solitary wicket.
In response, J&K got off to a flier, thanks to Qamran Iqbal’s attacking batting. He struck fiery 27-ball 40. However, captain Shubham Khajuria once again looked rusty. He never got going, ending up making 27 off 39 before getting out.
Henan Malik also made unbeaten 22 off 19 while Pundir fired 14 off 5 as J&K chased down the total in just 15 overs.
J&K lost the first four matches of the tournament and will next face Mizoram on October 25.
