Srinagar: Australia are facing serious injury concern...

“It’s Jammu Cricket Association (JCA) not JKCA”: Fans lash out at JKCA on Vijay Hazare Trophy squad selection

Cricket fans across Jammu and Kashmir are continuing to show disappointment with JKCA’s selection of various teams.

Just a few days back, they named a 16-member squad for the upcoming One-Day tournament: Vijay Hazare Trophy. The team features most of the players who were part of Syed Mushtaq Ali’s Trophy squad.

Since J&K only won 1 match out of 7 in the T20 tournament, fans are questioning the position of various players. The major disagreement is with JKCA picking only 4 players from Kashmir region.

“It is Jammu Cricket Association, Kashmir players should protest against it,” wrote Bhat Farman, a social media user.

“Jammu Cricket Association” commented another user, Arif Gull.

“Jus only 4 players frm Kashmir division. …jammu jammu jammu jammu jammu jammu,” wrote Lone Sayar.

“This team is becoming Jammu dominated day by day this should be rightly called Jammu cricket association,” Abid Janwari, another netizen, said.

Social media platforms were flooded with similar comments with people asking why is the current JKCA administration favouring Jammu-based players alone and ignoring Kashmir’s talent.

The support staff also features most of the people from Jammu or the outer states.

International cricketer Parvez Rasool is also missing from the squad, which fans are most baffled about. Parvez has been the backbone of this team across the three formats and his exclusion, which is reportedly becuase he had asked for a leave from the camp, has come as a shock.

“Worst selection of all time by JKCA,” commented Aijaz Rather, a Facebook user.

Another user, Xain Bhat, asked, “Where is Mr.Consistent & best Performer Parviaz Rasool”

Many other users also asked, “Where is Parvez Rasool,”

The questions were also raised on the exclusion of all-rounder Nasir Lone from the squad. He had stood out with his performances in JKCA’s domestic tourneys and was given only two matches in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, where he got limited chances to bat and bowl.

Shubham Pundir’s position as captain of the team has also yet again come under the scanner. Pundir has failed to make an impact both as a batter as well as captain!
