Department of Physical Education of Islamia College Srinagar organised basic trekking and hiking training camp for the benefit of its selected students and staff members on Monday. The participants were mostly the newly enrolled members of the college Adventure Club. The training was imparted about tent pitching , backpack settings etc.
The techniques of safety during trekking in different terrains was also revealed to the participants. Aqib Ahmed experienced trekker and mountaineer imparted training to the participants. Dr. Altaf ur Rehman, Director physical education of the college supervised the the one day Trekking programme at beautiful meadow of Doadpathri. The students and accompanying staff later trekked their way to Discal, Dandaér and Ashtar Valley. The party had a panoramic view of all peaks around Kashmir Valley on a clear sunny day. The participants were made aware of the names of some of the prominent peaks as well. Islamia college authorities have already agreed to organise week long trekking programmes to Great lakes, Lidder Valley besides smaller one day treks this year. The party which had started at 7:00 a m in the morning returned safely at 7:00 pm at the college.
