New Delhi: The All India Football Federation’s Technical Committee has appointed former International football from Kashmir, Ishfaq Ahmed as Head Coach of Indian National Under-16 team.
The committee meeting was chaired by IM Vijayan virtually, on Wednesday, April 24, 2024.
The meeting was attended by members of the Technical Committee, which includes Pinky Bompal Magar, Shabbir Ali, Victor Amalraj, Santosh Singh, and Climax Lawrence. The Technical Director of the AIFF, Syed Sabir Pasha was present in the meeting.
“After extensive deliberations, the committee recommended Langam Chaoba Devi as the head coach of the Indian Senior Women’s National Team. The committee also recommended Priya PV and Ronibala Chanu as the assistant and goalkeeping coaches, respectively, for the Senior Women’s National Team. All three coaches recommended by the Technical Committee did duty for the Senior Women’s National Team during the Turkish Women’s Cup in Alanya, Turkey, in February 2024,” AIFF statement said.
The Technical Committee discussed the appointments of the coaches for the men’s U16 and Men’s U19 teams. After going through the applications received, the committee recommended the following names, it said.
Ishfaq Ahmed was appointed as head coach of Under-16 Indian Football team while as Assistant Coach will be Yan Cheng Law.
Goalkeeping Coach will be Mohammed Zakeer Hussain.
Ranjan Chaudhuri was appointed as head coach of U19 Men’s National Team. Sandip Nandy was apoointed as Goalkeeping Coach.
It will be second time Ishfaq would be serving as India Under-16 team head coach. He has recently served as head coach of Real Kashmir FC in I-League and before that Assitant coach of Kerala Blastèrs in ISL.
Before transitioning into coaching role Ishfaq Ahmed played at highest level in Indian football arena for more than 15 years.
