Ishan Kishan breaks multiple records on way to ODI double ton against Bangladesh

Srinagar: The India youngster Ishan Kishan shattered multiple during his record breaking maiden ODI double century against Bangladesh on Saturday in Chattogram.

Kishan was drafted in the playing XI to replace the injured skipper Rohit Sharma, opening the batting. He made his attacking intent right from the very off, playing some blazing shots.

Despite losing opening partner Shikhar Dhawan relatively early, Kishan embarked upon a sizzling stand with Virat Kohli. Kishan would bring up his first international century in the 24th over and then would only go on to up the ante.

He would soon bring India’s highest individual score against Bangladesh, surpassing Virender Sehwag’s 175 in Mirpur in 2011.

Kishan then had his sights on a landmark double century and would bring up the feat in the 35th over in only 126 balls. His knock was only the 9th double century in the history of ODI cricket and he would become the fourth Indian to do so. It was also the fastest double century in ODI cricket.

The illustrious list of double centurions in ODI cricket includes Sachin Tendulkar, Virender Sehwag, Rohit Sharma, Chris Gayle, Martin Guptill and Fakhar Zaman.

His knock of 210 off 131 deliveries would finally be brought to an end by Taskin Ahmed in 36th over, becoming the sixth highest score in the history of ODI cricket.

Highest individual scores in ODI:

Player Score
Rohit Sharma 264
Martin Guptill 237*
Virender Sehwag 219
Chris Gayle 215
Fakhar Zaman 210*
Ishan Kishan 210
Rohit Sharma 209
Rohit Sharma 208*
Sachin Tendulkar 200*

His knock has set up India to post a mammoth total in the contest. Bangladesh currently have an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.
