Srinagar, February 13: Kolkata Knight Riders on Sunday signed Kashmiri pacer Rasikh Salam at INR 20 lakh in the IPL Auction 2022.
As soon as Rasikh, placed at serial 241, came up in the auction, KKR raised the paddle to fetch him for his base price of 20 lakh.
It was expected that Mumbai Indians, who he was a part of in IPL 2019, will bid for him but since he had taken part in KKR trials too this year, they showed interest in him.
Rasikh, a right-arm pacer who can swing the ball as well as has quite a few variations under his armoury, rose to the ladder quickly after Irfan Pathan spotted him back in 2018. He went on to play for J&K’s senior team without having played any age-group cricket.
Later, he was bought by Mumbai Indians in IPL Auction 2019. He went on to play the very first match but didn’t get a game later.
However, the Kulgam-born cricketer was soon found guilty of age-fudging, facing a ban of two years. He though stayed at Mumbai and was taken care of Mumbai Indians.
His ban ended in June last year and he made a comeback by playing for J&K U-25 side in one-day tourney, where he did well.
