New Delhi: India’s Test cricketers are in line for salary hikes, should the top brass of the BCCI get their way. In a hastily arranged special meeting of the BCCI’s working committee, president Anurag Thakur informed the members that the board would discuss an increase in payments for Test cricketers, which is up for renewal.
Currently, each of India’s Test cricketers receives Rs 7 lakh per Test from the BCCI.
Besides player payments, the BCCI is expected to take a formal call on the payment of the various pitch curators and is believed to be keen on appointing a general manager for the centre of excellence in Bangalore instead of the National Cricket Academy. Sources said that former selector Vikram Rathore’s name is doing the rounds for the post.
