Srinagar: The rising Team India star Yashasvi Jaiswal has climbed four places in the ICC Men’s T20I batting rankings to close gap of Pakistan duo of Mohammad Rizwan and Babar Azam who stand at fourth and fifth place respectively.
Jaiswal scored impressive unbeaten 93 off 53 balls during India’s dominant victory over Zimbabwe in the fourth T20I.
Jaiswal now occupies the sixth position with 743 rating points. Meanwhile, Pakistan’s Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan hold the fourth and fifth spots, with ratings of 755 and 746, respectively.
Travis Head maintains his top spot, with Suryakumar Yadav at the second. Teammate Shubman Gill, who was the leading run-scorer during the Zimbabwe series, also rises in the batting charts, moving up 36 places to 37th after amassing 170 runs from five innings.
Gill is now the fourth highest-ranked player from India on the T20I rankings, surpassing recently retired duo Rohit Sharma (42nd) and Virat Kohli (51st).
Zimbabwe pacer Blessing Muzarabani has gained 11 places to move to 44th overall on the list for T20I bowlers, following his six wickets against India. Washington Sundar (up 36 spots to 46th) and Mukesh Kumar (up 21 rungs to 73rd) also made significant progress in the same group after their performances in the series.
England spinner Adil Rashid remains in the No.1 spot for T20I bowlers, while Sri Lankan tweaker Wanindu Hasaranga stays narrowly clear in the list for T20I all-rounders. Zimbabwe veteran Sikandar Raza has gained a single place, rising to third following commendable efforts with both bat and ball against India.
Pakistan’s left-arm pacer Shaheen Afridi has climbed to the 14th position in the latest update, moving up three spots from 17th with 623 rating points. Haris Rauf and Imad Wasim have retained their positions at 28th and 32nd, with 583 and 563 rating points respectively.
There was also some movement on the updated Test rankings, with several England players making significant climbs following their efforts in dispatching the West Indies with ease at Lord’s.
Harry Brook has gained three places to move to seventh behind No.1 ranked Kiwi Kane Williamson. Top-order batters Zak Crawley (up three spots to 13th) and Ollie Pope (up three places to 29th) also gained ground after good scores in the nation’s capital.
