India beat West Indies by 5 wickets, take 1-0 lead in three-match series

Srinagar: India had to struggle hard as they beat hosts West Indies by five wickets in the first match of the ODI series at Kensington Oval in Barbados on Thursday.

Chasing 114 run target, Ishan Kishan slammed a brilliant half-century as India defeated West Indies by five wickets. Skipper Rohit Sharma came on to bat at No.7 while ad Virat Kohli didn’t came onto bat as India opted to give chances to youngsters in a low score chase.

Earlier, the Windies were dismissed for just 114. Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Shai Hope, Dominic Drakes, Jayden Seales and Yannic Cariah while Ravindra Jadeja took the wickets of Shimron Hetmyer, Romario Shepherd and Rovman Powell in quick succession. 

Shardul Thakur castled Brandon King, debutant Mukesh Kumar dismissed Alick Athanaze and Hardik Pandya took the wicket of Kyle Mayers. Shai Hope top-scored for West Indies with 43.
