Iftikhar Ahmed fined after heated altercation with Jason Roy

Srinagar: Senior all-rounder Iftikhar Ahmed has been fined for his altercation with England batter Jason Roy during ongoing PSL 2024.

Iftikhar Ahmed was fined five per cent of his match-fee for using inappropriate language during the match against Quetta Gladiators.

According to PCB, Iftikhar was guilty of a Level 1 breach of Pakistan Super League (PSL) Code of conduct.

Iftikhar violated Article 2.5 of the PSL Code of Conduct, which reads as: “Using language, actions or gestures which disparage or which could provoke an aggressive reaction from a batter upon his/her dismissal during a match”.

The incident took place in the third over of Quetta Gladiators’ batting, when Iftikhar was seen using inappropriate language towards the batter who was dismissed.

“Since Iftikhar pleaded guilty to the charge and accepted the sanctions proposed by match referee Ali Naqvi, there was no need of a formal hearing,” the PCB said in a press release. “The charge was imposed by on-field umpires Rashid Riaz and Richard Illingworth.”

Earlier, Lahore Qalandars’ Sikandar Raza was fined on Monday for showing dissent at an umpire’s decision.

The Zimbabwe all-rounder was fined 10 per cent of his match fee for a Level 1 breach of PSL’s code of conduct.

Islamabad United’s pacer Naseem Shah was fined 10 per cent of match fee by the PCB.
