Hitman is continuing his superb form and is hitting bowlers to all over the park in ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 as he on Saturday became first batsman to hit 5 cenruries in World Cup.

The 32-year-old batsman achieved the milestone in India’s final league match against Sri Lanka at the Headingley Cricket Ground in Leeds on Saturday.

Rohit broke former Sri Lanka captain Kumar Sangakkara’s record for the most number of centuries. Sangakkara made four consecutive tons in the last edition of the showpiece event in 2015.

Rohit’s third hundred in a row also tied him with Sachin Tendulkar for the record of six overall at World Cups.

During the course of his 27th ODI ton, Rohit also went past Shakib Al Hasan’s tally of 606 runs in eight innings when he reached 63 with India chasing 265 for victory.

The leading scorer in the ongoing World Cup, Rohit (647) also became the second Indian after Sachin to amass over 600 runs in a single edition of the showpiece event. Sachin (673) held the record of scoring maximum runs in 2003.
