He is World Class, have to find best position for him: Mickey Arthur hails Mohammad Rizwan

Srinagar: Former Pakistan coach and current Team Director Mickey Arthur has expressed his opinion over Mohammad Rizwan’s batting position Pakistan ODI squad.

During the recent ODI series against New Zealand, Rizwan had mentioned that he is not happy batting at No.5 for Pakistan, and would instead prefer to bat at fourth spot.

“If you ask me honestly, I am not happy [with my batting position]. I am not happy with No.5, because I personally want to play at four. But it’s not necessary whatever I want I’ll get,” Rizwan had said.

“The coach and captain will do what they like. It must have happened a lot in the past. It is my desire to play at four and I’m not happy with playing at five. This is what I want,” he added.

Arthur, in  online interview Saj Sadiq on Youtube said that Rizwan is World Class player.

“Depending on the balance of the team, depending on where we take the side in terms of their roles,” Arthur told Saj Sadiq on YouTube.

“We need to just explore that one a little bit more in terms of finding the exact and best position for the team first and Mohammad Rizwan second because Pakistan is all about putting the team first, so it’s way best we think how we can utilize him and then give him a clear role, as to what we want from that position and then letting him go and play.”

“He’s a wonderful player; he’s matured. He’s a player who has matured incredibly since I left Pakistan, and he’s world-class now. We just have to find out how best Mohammad Rizwan’s position fits the team,” he added.

Rizwan had batted at No.5 in the first three ODIs against New Zealand, though he was moved up the order to No.4 in the last two ODIs.

Pakistan had beaten New Zealand 4-1 in the five-match ODI series.
