Srinagar, March 6: In the on going Prof. Yousuf Memorial Inter College cricket tourney being played at Islamia College turf wicket Goverment Degree College Baramulla defeated Goverment Degree Colleg Charar e Sharif by 115 runs on Saturday afternoon.
Before the start of the match the players and the officials were introduced to Dr. Taroq Ahmed Ganai, Head department of Management Studies Islami College. After winning the toss Baramulla captain decided to bat first and they scored a huge total of 241 runs for the loss of 6 wickets in allotted 26 overs. Momin Lone scored a blistering 79 runs in 38 balls with 8 fours and 5 sixes and Imran Nabi contributed 59 runs in 45 balls. Tahir Ahmed took 3 and Shakir Shafi 2 wickets for Charar team. Chasing a challenging target of 242 runs the Charar team lost earl wickets and never looked in the hunt and lost the match with a heavy margin of 115 runs. Tanvir with 25 and Bilal with 21 runs were their prominent scorers. Yasir Shiekh took 4 and Sakib Shafi took 3 wickets for Baramulla team. Baramulla won by 115 runs. Momin Lone was adjudged the man of the match. On Monday the 8th March G D C Sopore will play against Engineering College Zakura campus. The tournament is being organised by Department of Physical Education Islamia College to commemorate the memory of ex Principal Prof. Mohammed Yousuf.
