Pakistan batter Fakhar Zaman has been fined 10 percent of his match fee for a Level 1 breach of the ICC Code of Conduct during the Tri-Series final between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
The ICC confirmed that Fakhar violated Article 2.8, which deals with “showing dissent at an umpire’s decision during an international match.” The offense also results in one demerit point being added to his record—his first in a 24-month period.
What Happened?
The incident occurred in the 19th over of Pakistan’s innings when Fakhar engaged in a prolonged discussion with the on-field umpires after a decision that led to his dismissal. Match officials deemed his reaction to constitute dissent.
Officials and Verdict
The charge was laid by on-field umpires Ahsan Raza and Asif Yaqoob, along with third umpire Rashid Riaz and fourth umpire Faisal Afridi.
Reon King, from the Emirates ICC International Panel of Match Referees, imposed the sanction.
Fakhar admitted the offence and accepted the penalty, avoiding the need for a formal hearing.
