Pakistan former cricketer, now head coach and Cheif selector Misbah Ul Haq has said that his suggestion for International Cricket Council (ICC) is to extend World Test Championship which has been hampered global pandemic of Coronavirus.
The nine-team competition is originally set to run from 2019 to 2021 but a couple of Test series part of the tournament have already been postponed due to the global health crisis.
Speaking with reporters through Video conference from Lahore Misbah said,”I just think that all teams must get equal opportunities in the championship even if matches are rescheduled”.
“Whenever cricket resumes, all teams should get equal opportunity in the World Test Championship to try to play in the final. The tournament can be extended beyond 2021,” he added.
Misbah had previously complained about the irregularity in Test fixtures for Pakistan in the past, he now hopes the inaugural championship would be lengthened.
“The tournament should be extended, that is my view. That is the only way we can find and end the event in a balanced way. Matches can be rescheduled if the event is extended,” he said.
