DYSS sports activities continue across J&K

Srinagar: The Department of Youth Services and Sports sports activities continued on Wednesday across J&K.

The District Ganderbal, organized a series of exhilarating sports activities as part of the G-20 Celebrations.

The events showcased the paramount energy and enthusiasm of the district’s youth, further promoting the spirit of sportsmanship and healthy competition.

Zonal Level Inter District Chess Competition:

As part of the sports extravaganza, a Zonal Level Inter District Chess competition for Boys and Girls under the age of 17 was successfully conducted today, 24th May 2023, at GHSS Ganderbal. The competition witnessed the participation of 40 talented individuals, with 20 boys and 20 girls representing various zones of the district. The young players displayed exceptional skills and determination throughout the event, which culminated with a grand medal ceremony, felicitating the meritorious student players for their outstanding performances.

Inter School Zonal Level Football Competition:

Simultaneously, despite heavy rains, the Department of Youth Services and Sports conducted an Inter School Zonal Level Football Competition for Boys under the age of 17 at MM Stadium Ganderbal. The event witnessed the participation of 64 young football players from all four zones of the district. Undeterred by the inclement weather, the students played with unwavering spirit and energy, expressing their immense joy and gratitude towards the department for organizing such a memorable event. The victorious teams were presented with trophies and medals by the senior officials of the Department, recognizing their exceptional sportsmanship.

Padh Yatra (Walkathon) in Zone Kangan:

In addition, the DYSSO Ganderbal’s Zone Kangan organized a Padh Yatra (Walkathon) for the students of Zone Kangan. The event witnessed the enthusiastic participation of 150 students from various institutions of the zone. Commencing from Main Market Kangan, the walkathon covered a distance of approximately 10 kilometers and concluded at Akhal Kangan. The event aimed to promote physical fitness and the spirit of unity among the young participants.

Outstanding Achievement in Judo Championship:

Meanwhile, representing District Ganderbal, Judo player Shah Mehfooz from BHSS Ganderbal secured a GOLD medal in the under 55 weight category at the ongoing championship held at Wazir Bagh, Srinagar, organized by DYSSO Srinagar. DYSSO Ganderbal, Sheikh Shafqat Iqbal, conveyed his heartfelt congratulations to Shah Mehfooz for this remarkable accomplishment and extended his best wishes for his future endeavors.

Volleyball and Table Tennis Activities in Srinagar

Meanwhile, in Srinagar, the hosting city of the G20 Summit, at Inter School Level Zone Zaldagar organized two exciting activities, namely Volleyball and Table Tennis. These events were held at MPML Higher Educational Institute BD Khan, attracting enthusiastic participation from budding athletes.

The Department of Youth Services and Sports,J&K, takes immense pride in fostering the spirit of sportsmanship, physical fitness, and healthy competition among the youth.

Department of Youth Services and Sports Promotes Sports and Awareness Activities in Kupwara and Bandipora Districts

The Department of Youth Services and Sports in Kupwara district, under the guidance of the District Youth Services and Sports Officer Zahoor Ahmad Wani, conducted various activities in the Gujjar and Bakerwal habitation of Tangdar, a remote area. These activities were organized to disseminate information about the upcoming G20 Summit hosted by J&K and to encourage people’s participation in sports.

The event witnessed the participation of a large number of students and senior citizens in sports activities across different disciplines. Recreational games were also organized, and the participants showcased great enthusiasm while the spectators thoroughly enjoyed the activities. During the event, Zahoor Ahmad Wani emphasized the significance of games and sports in leading a healthy and joyful life, urging all participants to actively engage in sports.

However, due to inclement weather conditions, some of the scheduled activities had to be postponed as per the calendar. Despite the challenges, the department remains committed to conducting the activities at a later date.

Meanwhile, in the neighboring Bandipora district, the Youth Services and Sports Department continued its vibrant activities despite continuous rain showers. In a unique approach, the Zone Sumbal Zonal Physical Education Officer (ZPEO) engaged students in binge-watching the biography of Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Azad. Zone Quilmuqam followed this with a Cleanliness Drive at HS Qazipora and Quilmuqam, accompanied by a mini mud football match with 7-a-side teams. Zone Bandipora actively participated in a Plantation Drive held at HSS Nadihal and organized a Walkathon at HS Garoora to celebrate the G20 Summit.

In line with the activity calendar, a Padyatra was held at HSS Hajin in Zone Hajin, despite the adverse weather conditions. Over 100 students braved the rain to participate in raising awareness about the G20 Summit. Similarly, in the remote area of Zone Gurez, officials of the Youth Services and Sports Department and enthusiastic participants carried out a Walkathon and Cleanliness Drive, showcasing their dedication towards the G20 Summit.

The Department of Youth Services and Sports commends the unwavering spirit and active engagement of participants and officials in these activities, demonstrating the commitment towards promoting sports and creating awareness about the G20 Summit in Kupwara and Bandipora districts.

South kashmir YSS Round Up

DYSSO Pulwama’s zone Shadimarg  organised  walkathon to spread the basic information regrading G20 and mostly to welcome the delegates from different countries who are presently attending the global summit being held at Srinagar. 

More than 500 student from various educational institutions actively participated in this event . This event commenced from HSS Darbgam which later on culminated near Shadimarg main chowk. The participants dressed in multicolor uniforms produced eye catching scenes as they passed through the different routes of the area.

Zeo Shadimarg  Manzoor Ahmad  chief guest  on the occasion speaking to the participants  told that Running is among the basic activities that improves the cardiovascular performance but should be performed regularly as it will have a good  impact on levels of stamina also moreover he also spoke about the multi beneficial G-20 Summit and india’s presidency.  Yss zone Tral also organised  a series of activities such as sports events ,oath ceremony and a plantation drive to aware the masses about G-20 

Similarly DYSSO kulgam today organised interschool zonal level competition in the discipline of Table tennis U-14 and U/17 boys in the premises of HSS Qaimoh. In which more than 60 students participated from different Government institutions as well as from private institutions of the zone. Anti drug pledge was administered before the event.

YSS District Anantnag is not only made the public aware of the G20 Summit but it is simultaneously making them aware of the Drug menace in society. For this instance, Zone Bidder organized a rally of school students including both Boys & Girls which went through the main market of the famous tourist Kokernag and raised the slogan of Anti-Drug in which the general public also took part by supporting them throughout the whole rally which was flagged off by Principal HSS Kokernag in which a huge number of students participated with real sportsmanship, the said zone also organized Volleyball tournament for U/17 Girls at HSS Kokernag on a synthetic turf in which a total of 120 girls participated.
