Srinagar: Former Australia opener David Warner has heaped praise on Indian batting superstar Virat Kohli, calling him “super fit” and backing him to continue playing until the age of 50.
Warner, who recently shared a lighthearted moment with Kohli during the India vs Australia ODI at the Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG), revealed details of their friendly chat in a video posted on social media.
“I hadn’t seen Virat in quite a while, so I just embraced him, gave him a handshake and a hug, and asked how he and the family were doing,” Warner said. “We spoke a little about cricket, and I told him he looks super fit and can play until he’s 50.”
Warner’s comments come amid ongoing discussions about Kohli’s international future. The Indian great has already retired from T20Is and Test cricket, leading to widespread speculation about when he might step away from ODIs as well.
Adding to the chatter were Kohli’s back-to-back ducks in the first two ODIs against Australia, which raised concerns about his form. However, the veteran batter silenced critics in the final match with a match-winning unbeaten 74, guiding India to a nine-wicket victory and preventing a clean sweep.
Kohli, who continues to be one of the fittest cricketers in the world, will next be seen in action during the three-match ODI series against South Africa, starting November 30 in India.
