
Srinagar, December 19: Writing another chapter in its short glorious history, Real Kashmir FC in Saturday lifted the historic 123rd IFA Shield football tournament title.
In the final played at Iconic, Salt Lake Stadium Kolkatta, Real Kashmir FC beat resilient George Telegraph Sports Club by 2-1 goals.
In first half, Lukman scored first goal of the match for Real Kashmir FC in 37th minute. At halftime Real Kashmir FC were leading by 1-0.
In second half George Telegraph bounced back strongly, scoring equaliser in 50th minute, only five minutes into second half. G Das was the scorer.
Real Kashmir FC kept pushing up and in 60th minute Mason Robertson scored second goal for Real Kashmir, restoring lead once again for his side. George Telegraph kept going for the equaliser and applied lot of pressure on Real Kashmir FC defense. They almost went on to score equaliser once again, but failed to convert penalty they had earned into goal.
After that no goal was scored and Real Kashmir emerged winner by 2-1 goals. With that Real Kashmir FC lifted the historic title.
IFA Shield is one of the oldest football tournament in the World, having started in 1893. Real Kashmir FC is first ever Kashmir football team to participate in the tournament. Only in its maiden outing they emerged out as winners.
Having came into existence in year 2015-16, Real Kashmir FC is only Kashmir club to win second division I-League, participate in I-League and now win IFA Shield.
