“Court directs Sports Council to make arrangments for JKFA elections; Chairman & Co removed”

Srinagar: The Court of 4th Additional District Judge Srinagar has asked J&K Sports Council to make necessary arrangements for the conduct of J&K Football Association Elections.

In case Fayaz Ahmad Sofi vs Poison Footbal Club Ganderbal, Waseem Aslam, Prof. B.A Shah, Nazir Ahmad Andrabi and JK Sports Council, the Court according to statement has ruled in favour of Fayaz Ahmad Sofi.
The Court has dismissed the applications filed by Poison Football Club, Ganderbal and rejected the plea to conduct the elections under the AIFF Constitution.
The JKFA election, initially set for June 12, 2022, faced numerous interference before a particular club got Court stay on elections.

“The victory affirms the integrity of the JK Constitution, strengthens our democratic foundation and honours the legacy of those who have nurtured football in J&K since 1964,” statement said.
Every member of JKFA will have the right to vote in the elections for the posts of office bearers of JKFA, it said.

The statement said that, the court has removed Waseem Aslam, Prof. B.A Shah and Nazir Andrabi from their posts in JKFA and restrained them and all the persons from acting as Chairman of JKFA or in any other capacity until the elections are held.

The court had earlier restrained Waseem Aslam, Prof. B.A Shah and Nazir Andrabi from acting on behalf of JKFA and said order has been upheld by the Court.

Furthermore, the court has directed the JK Sports Council to make necessary arrangements for the elections of JKFA and to submit report to the court in that behalf before the next date of hearing, it said.

The story is developing and would be updated as and when the Court order would be made public.
