Conor McGregor Eyes Historic UFC Comeback, Targets Third Weight Class Title

New York: UFC superstar Conor McGregor has signaled a potential historic return to the Octagon, with his sights set on conquering a third weight division. The Irish fighter, who last fought in July 2021 against Dustin Poirier at UFC 264, has been absent from MMA competition but now appears ready to make a major comeback.

McGregor’s planned return at UFC 303 in 2024, where he was scheduled to face Michael Chandler during International Fight Week, was canceled due to a toe injury. After exploring political ambitions, including a bid for Ireland’s presidency, fans doubted if McGregor would ever return to the UFC.

However, recent developments, including U.S. President Donald Trump’s announcement of a supercard as part of the 250th anniversary of American independence, have reignited the fighter’s interest in returning to the Octagon.

In a recent statement, McGregor revealed his ambitions: he wants to challenge the welterweight division and make history as the first UFC fighter to win titles in three weight classes. While he initially expressed interest in facing Michael Chandler, he emphasized that he is open to any opponent, leaving the decision to the UFC.

“I’m motivated, self-motivated. I for sure want a crack at that 170lbs belt to go for the triple crown…I hope it’s Michael Chandler, but I won’t say no to anyone. The UFC will decide it, but I don’t care. I just want to come back, I am so eager to come back and show my work,” McGregor said.

Fans and MMA enthusiasts worldwide are eagerly waiting to see whether McGregor’s historic comeback will materialize, potentially reshaping the UFC landscape once again.
