Srinagar: Former J&K skipper Samiullah Beigh has expressed his disappointment over J&K senior cricket team’s performance against minnows Meghalaya in the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy tournament in Mohali on Tuesday.
J&K suffered shock 8 wicket defeat at the hands of Meghalaya on Tuesday in the tournament opener.
Not impressed with the way team performed in the match, Samiullah Beigh posted a long note on his Facebook page.
“Don’t think J&K cricket has reached such a low before! Can’t remember we lost any game against minnows ever before & that too so badly!,” Samiullah posted.
“Punit Bisht being smart operator ,must have played angles better & capitalised on width on either side of the wicket. And I bet , we must have set absolutely wrong fields to him because there is no one in coaching staff who must have studied his battings style & made bowling plans against him,” post reads.
“Some thing some where is very wrong @ JKCA – Jammu & Kashmir Cricket Association. Better appoint specialist batting and bowling coaches who are well versed with modern Nitty-Gritties of cricket and who have done some work with the boys before,” it further reads.
“P.S: M not in d race. Thank you.!,” it added with the clarification that he doesn’t want the job.
J&K would be playing its second match of the tournament against Arunachal Pradesh on Wednesday.
