Baroda defeats J&K by 19 runs in Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy opener

Baroda got better of J&K by 19 runs in the first match of Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy on Monday at Jaipur.

Batting first, J&K bowlers started off pretty well, getting early wickets. Baroda was reduced to 26-3 in 5 overs but then skipper Krunal Pandya and Shivalik Sharma built a huge partnership.

Baroda lastly made 145-5 with Krunal Pandya (56 off 48) topping the score charts. For J&K, Yudhvir Singh remained the pick of the bowlers, picking 3 wickets and giving away just 13 runs in his 4 overs.

In reply, J&K began quite slowly and lost wickets in the process too. However, Shubham Khajuria and Qamran Iqbal formed a formidable stand in the middle overs.

Before J&K could come close to the target, they were collapsed from 84-2 to 115-9 in 19.1 overs. Qamran Iqbal (37 off 30) and Shubham Khajuria (29 off 24) remained top scorers as J&K fell short by 19 runs at the end.

J&K will next face Hyderabad on 17th October.
