Barcelona: FC Barcelona will officially step back onto the pitch at their iconic Spotify Camp Nou on Saturday, November 22, marking their first competitive home match at the venue in two and a half years. The Catalan giants will face Athletic Bilbao in La Liga Matchday 13, making it an emotional and symbolic return for both fans and players.
The historic stadium has been undergoing a massive redevelopment project since May 2023, forcing Barcelona to temporarily shift their home games to the Olympic Stadium in Montjuïc.
According to the club’s latest announcement, the refurbished Camp Nou will initially allow a limited attendance of 45,401 spectators, significantly lower than the planned 105,000-seat capacity once the full renovation is complete.
Despite the temporary restriction, Barcelona called the return “a moment of celebration and progress”, highlighting strong optimism surrounding the transformation of one of football’s most iconic arenas.
Barcelona also confirmed they are in discussions with UEFA to host next week’s Champions League clash against Eintracht Frankfurt at Camp Nou. An official decision is expected soon.
Barcelona last competed at Camp Nou on May 28, 2023, against Mallorca before the stadium was shut down for reconstruction. The comeback now provides supporters a much-awaited chance to reconnect with what many consider the spiritual heart of the club.
While fans will not yet experience the venue in its final completed form, the partial reopening of Camp Nou represents a major milestone in Barcelona’s ambitious future both on and off the field.
