Srinagar, April 25: It is becoming spicy contest day by day, as Pakistan skipper and star batsman Babar Azam on Sunday broke another batting record that was set by India batting superstar Virat Kohli.
Babar Azam on Sunday became the fastest to score 2000 T20 International runs. It has taken Azam only 52 innings to achieve the feat while as Virat Kohli had achieved the feat in 56.
Pakistan skipper reached the landmark during the second T20I against Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club.
The third on the list is Australian Aaron Finch, who got to 2000 T20I runs in 62 matches.
Babar who is piling up runs at fast rate recently advanced in the ICC men’s T20I player rankings. Azam advanced one place to reach the second position.
With ever present comparison of Pakistan batting star with Virat Kohli, the Azam recently replaced Virat Kohli at the top of the men’s ODI player rankings.
In ICC T20 batting rankings Babar is still 48 points adrift of top-ranked Dawid Malan of England.
However, he three-match series against Zimbabwe presents the 26-year-old with another opportunity to move towards the top spot, which he had occupied till November last year.
