DHARAMSHALA: The 18-year-old Arjun Tendulkar, son of Sachin Tendulkar, endured a gruelling training session at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association (HPCA) in Dharamshala. Sachin too is expected to visit his son in the first week of next month.
Arjun was a part of a group of 25 under-19 cricketers who have arrived here for a month long camp of National Cricket Academy. Officials told that practice session starts from early hours of the day around 6.00 am and concludes late evening.
“Arjun Tendulkar was practicing cricket here and was following a tough routine. He was staying with other 25 under-19 cricketers at the stadium complex only” said Sanjay Sharma, the official spokesperson of HPCA.
Sharma further disclosed that it is expected that Sachin too would come to meet his son.
“It is a month long camp which will conclude around 20th of May” he added.
HPCA officials also lambasted previous Congress government for not approving land for the NCA to develop its center in Himachal Pradesh.
It was in 2015 that BCCI was in process of shifting the NCA out of Bengaluru. HPCA has written a letter in this regard to the state government seeking 50000 square meters land. But due to political tussle the same was no allotted.
“Congress was in power when we had written a letter to state government for land for NCA. This could have been a regular feature for this state but due to lack of political will Dharamshala lost the chance to have this academy here” said Sharma.
