Anthony Joshua Reveals Current Weight Two Weeks Before Highly Anticipated Fight Against Jake Paul

New York: Two-time world heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has revealed his current weight just two weeks ahead of his highly publicised bout with Jake Paul. The pair are set to clash in a sanctioned fight on December 19 at Miami’s Kaseya Center, with global streaming coverage set to boost the event’s profile.

Under the terms of the fight contract, Joshua must not exceed 245lbs (111kg) at the official weigh-in. Although AJ has previously weighed as high as 254lbs during his professional career, he appears to be comfortably on track to make the contracted limit.

Joshua posted a video on X (formerly Twitter) on Thursday showing himself stepping onto a scale, which read 101.6kg (243.8lbs) — placing him well below the maximum allowed weight.

The caption of his post read:
“They must have forgot. I’m used to dealing with big weights & scales. 243.8lb.”

The British heavyweight has weighed between 250–255lbs ahead of each of his last five fights, making his current number noticeably leaner — a sign that Joshua is preparing with serious intent ahead of the crossover contest.

Background to the Fight

The Joshua vs Paul matchup materialised only after Jake Paul’s scheduled fight against Gervonta Davis, set for November 14, was cancelled following allegations made against the WBA lightweight champion. With Davis unavailable, Paul and Joshua’s teams quickly reached an agreement for the December showdown.

The bout will mark Joshua’s return to the ring after a lengthy absence. He last fought in September 2024 at Wembley Stadium, suffering a defeat to Daniel Dubois and picking up injuries that kept him sidelined for over a year.
