ADGP felicitates J&K Police sports team 

Srinagar:  Addl. DGP Armed J&K SJM Gillani, today felicitated different teams of J&K Police Centre Sports Team in a felicitation function held at the lawns of APHQ J&K Srinagar for their excellent performance and bringing laurels to J&K Police in different tournaments.

In 8th UT (J&K) Pencak Silat Championship 2023-24 organized by J&K Sports Council at Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Stadium, Srinagar, opp. Amar Singh College Srinagar from 23rd to 25th September, 2023 in which more than 1200 players from 18 Districts of J&K (UT) participated J&K Police Pencak Silat team bagged 11 Gold, 02 Silver & 02 Bronze medal in the said Championship.

J&K Police Pencak Silat team players those who won medals are: In Artistic: Ravees Ahmad (Tunggal event), Showkat Ahmad & Adil (Ganda event), Danish Wani (Solo event) & Rameez, Iqbal & Muneer (Regu event) won Gold medal each, and in Tanding: Sameer Ahmad (55 – 60 kg), Samit Zahoor (80 – 85 kg), Akhil Sharma (85 – 90 kg) & Malik Asrar (90 – 95 kg) won Gold medal each, Danish Wani (70 – 75 kg) & Arvinder (75 – 80 kg) won Silver medal each and Asif Ali (>45 kg) won Bronze in the category shown against each.

In 21st J&K (UT) Athletic Championship organized by J&K Amateur Athletic Association at Jammu University from 28th to 29th September 2023 J&K Police Athletic team lead by HC Reyaz Ahmad (Team Coach) won 01 Silver & 03 Bronze medals. SPO Balvinder Singh won Silver medal in (800 mtrs) & Bronze medal in (1500 mtrs), Ct. Hans Raj won Bronze medal in (10000 mtrs) and Ct. Barkat Ali won Bronze medal in (800 mtrs).

In National level Ladakh Marathon-2023 organized by Ladakh Hill Development Council and Remo Expeditions on 10th September, 2023 Ct. Hans Raj secured 1st Position in 21.097 Kms (Half Marathon) at 11,155 feet Altitude.

In 9th J&K (UT) Water Sports Championship-2023 organized by J&K Water Sports Kayaking & Canoeing Association at Pokhribal Srinagar w.e.f 26th to 27th August, 2023 J&K Police Water Sports team lead by SgCt Showkat Ahmad (Team Coach) bagged 06 Gold, 08 Silver and 02 Bronze medals. SPO Mubashir won 03 Gold medals, SPO Moisar Ahmad won 02 Gold medals & SPO Idrees Hussain won 01 Gold medal in different events. HC Parvaiz Ahmad won 02 Silver medals whereas, Ct. Muneer Ahmed, Ct. Showkat Ahmad, Ct. Aashiq Hussain, Ct. Nazir Hussain, Foll. Sajad Ahmad and SPO Maqsood won 01 Silver medal each, SPO Riyaz Ahmad won 01 Bronze medal and SPO Aquib Hussain & SPO Saif Ali won 01 Bronze medal in (C-2 event). 

In 1st Rajinder Magotra Memorial Basketball Championship-2023 organized by Rajinder Magotra Welfare Club at Mini Stadium, Parade, Jammu from 29th September to 2nd October, 2023. A total of 16 teams across the J&K (UT) including teams of Army, BSF (Jammu) & BSF (Kashmir) participated in the said Championship. J&K Police Basket Ball team bagged Winner trophy by defeating STC Warrior Team-Jammu in which J&K Police got 119 points while STC Warrior got 90 points. SgCt Iqbal Singh stood Player of the tournament MVP (Most Valuable Player) by scoring 69 points out of 119 in the Final match.

During the said felicitation ceremony ADGP Armed J&K congratulated all the medal winners of J&K Police Centre Sports team and their coaches for their achievements and wished them best of luck for future endeavours.

The felicitation ceremony was attended by Mahmood Ahmed-SSP Staff Officer to ADGP Armed J&K, Syed Sajad Hussain Pvt. Secretary to ADGP Armed J&K, Ab. Hamid Dy.SP (Personnel) APHQ, Kuldeep Handoo DySP (Sports) APHQ, besides the various coaches and members of J&K Police Centre Sports team.
