Wasik represents India in Philippines triathlon event

Wasik ul Billah who hails from old city of Srinagar has become first athlete from Kashmir to participate in any International level Triathlon event after finishing BPI DurianMan Triathlon in Philippines.Wasik Triathlon

Wasik competed in the BPI DurianMan Triathlon on April 23 at Samal Island, Philippines. The event included covering 1.5-Km open water cross channel swim followed by 40-Km cycling and then 10-Km run.

 Wasik said that that event included athletes from different Countries and he was only one from India.

“To take part in the event then successfully complete the race is not small thing. It was big achievement for me to compete shoulder to shoulder along with some of the elites of triathlon sports discipline, he said.

It was first time that Wasik took part in any top level triathlon event. In swimming he has swim across a channel in Philippines for which he was awarded by the President of Philippines Rodrigo Duterte. He has also represented Country in couple of International skiing events. ( Source Greater Kashmir.
