Harry Kane Says Ballon d’Or Wait Is ‘Very Stressful’ for His Family

London: Harry Kane has admitted that the uncertainty surrounding the 2026 Ballon d’Or winner has become “very stressful” for his family, with the Bayern Munich striker expressing a desire to know the result before the official ceremony in London on October 26.

Kane is among the leading contenders for football’s most prestigious individual award, alongside Barcelona sensation Lamine Yamal, Kylian Mbappe and Bayern Munich teammate Michael Olise.

The England captain strengthened his credentials with an impressive performance in Bayern Munich’s 2-2 draw against Arsenal in the UEFA Champions League at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday. Kane set up Alphonso Davies for a goal and also converted a penalty, earning the man-of-the-match recognition.

Speaking after the match, Kane acknowledged that the suspense surrounding the award announcement had created considerable anticipation within his family.

“I think my wife would prefer to know, and my family. It’s very stressful for everyone. I can see why they don’t tell people. They want everyone to go, all the big names there, and there will be more people watching it if they don’t know, so I can understand why,” Kane said.

The striker admitted that he would personally prefer to know the outcome in advance rather than endure the uncertainty throughout the evening.

“From my point of view, of course, I’d love to know, just to kind of see and not have to wait throughout the whole night. But it is their decision, I can’t control that. We’ll have to just enjoy it and try not to stress out too much,” he added.

Kane’s Historic Season Puts Him in Ballon d’Or Contention

Kane’s strong position in the Ballon d’Or race follows a remarkable 2025-26 campaign in which he reportedly scored 73 goals across all competitions for Bayern Munich and England.

His prolific scoring record and consistent performances have placed him among the favourites to claim the individual honour, although he faces competition from several of the leading names in world football.

The 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony is scheduled to take place at the London Palladium on Monday, October 26. The event will mark the 70th edition of the award presented by France Football.

With the announcement approaching, Kane and his family will have to wait a little longer to discover whether his outstanding season will be rewarded with the coveted Golden Ball.
