Ahmedabad: India continued their dominance in home T20I series, securing a 3–1 series victory over South Africa after winning the fifth match of the bilateral contest on Friday.
Powered by impressive half-centuries from Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya, India posted a commanding 231 runs in their allotted 20 overs. The hosts maintained control despite a blistering counterattack from South Africa opener Quinton de Kock, who briefly kept the visitors in contention.
India’s bowlers turned the game decisively in the middle overs, with Varun Chakravarthy claiming four crucial wickets to derail South Africa’s chase and seal a convincing win for the home side.
With this triumph, India registered their eighth consecutive T20I series win, extending a successful run that began in the 2023/24 season, following a 1–1 drawn series in South Africa. The victory further strengthens India’s remarkable record in home T20Is.
India’s unbeaten streak on home soil now stretches back to 2018/19, when they last lost a home T20I series—against Australia by a 0–2 margin. Subsequent home series against South Africa in 2019/20 and 2022 ended in draws, while all other contests have resulted in Indian victories.
Overall, India have now remained unbeaten in 18 consecutive T20I series at home, underlining their status as one of the most formidable teams in the shortest format.
