Dhaka: ICC World Test Championship standings witnessed a major shake-up as Bangladesh national cricket team climbed above India national cricket team following a memorable Test series victory over Pakistan national cricket team.
Bangladesh sealed a 78-run win in the second Test at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium on Tuesday to complete a dominant 2-0 series sweep against Pakistan. The victory lifted Bangladesh to fifth place in the World Test Championship 2025-27 standings with a points percentage of 58.33, while India slipped to sixth.
Veteran spinner Taijul Islam starred for the hosts with a brilliant six-wicket haul in Pakistan’s second innings, including two crucial wickets on the final morning as Pakistan chased a daunting target of 437 runs.
Fast bowler Shoriful Islam also played a decisive role by dismissing Pakistan wicketkeeper-batter Mohammad Rizwan for 94, a breakthrough that shifted momentum firmly in Bangladesh’s favour.
The triumph marked Bangladesh’s first-ever home Test series win against Pakistan and their second consecutive Test series sweep over their Asian rivals after a 2-0 victory in Pakistan during 2024.
Pakistan, meanwhile, remain eighth in the WTC standings after another disappointing series defeat.
