Kohli Closes In on ICC No.1 ODI Ranking as Pakistan Star Regains Top T20I All-Rounder Spot

India’s Virat Kohli has moved within striking distance of the top ODI batting ranking following his remarkable century against South Africa in the opening ODI in Ranchi. Kohli smashed 135 off 120 balls, his 83rd international century, propelling him one spot up to 4th in the latest ICC Men’s ODI Batting Rankings.

Kohli now sits at 751 rating points, just 32 points behind Rohit Sharma, who continues to hold the No.1 position. The former India captain last ruled the ODI rankings in 2021 before being surpassed by Pakistan’s Babar Azam.

Rohit further strengthened his lead at the top, distancing himself from New Zealand’s Daryl Mitchell (2nd) and Afghanistan’s Ibrahim Zadran (3rd). Kohli’s rise also pushed teammate Shubman Gill down to 5th.

India enjoyed additional success in the rankings as left-arm spinner Kuldeep Yadav climbed one place to 6th among ODI bowlers.


Saim Ayub regains No.1 T20I all-rounder ranking

Dubai: Pakistan’s tri-series victory at home sparked major changes in the T20I charts. Opener Saim Ayub reclaimed the No.1 T20I all-rounder ranking, overtaking Sikandar Raza after an impactful performance in the final.

Ayub scored 36 runs and picked up a key wicket during his economical four-over spell, helping Pakistan beat Sri Lanka by six wickets. His all-round display lifted him back to the top for the second time.

Teammates also benefited from the tri-series success:

  • Abrar Ahmed jumped four places to 4th among T20I bowlers.
  • Mohammad Nawaz rose to 11th in bowling rankings and climbed three spots to 4th among all-rounders after winning Player of the Tournament.

Sri Lanka and Bangladesh players record notable gains

Sri Lanka’s young batter Kamil Mishara made the biggest leap, moving from outside the top 100 into 18th place in T20I batting after scoring 169 runs in four innings.

Bangladesh also registered improvements following their 2–1 series win over Ireland:

  • Parvez Hossain Emon rose 21 spots to 38th.
  • Towhid Hridoy climbed to 42nd.
  • Mustafizur Rahman moved up two positions to 8th among T20I bowlers.

Marco Jansen leads South Africa’s rise in Test rankings

South Africa’s 2–0 Test sweep over India triggered major shifts in the ICC Test rankings. Left-arm quick Marco Jansen enjoyed a massive boost, climbing five places to a career-best 5th among Test bowlers.

Jansen also surged to 2nd in the Test all-rounder rankings.

Other South African players who made notable gains:

  • Simon Harmer: up 13 places to 11th after taking 17 wickets and winning Player of the Series.
  • Kyle Verreynne: up to 38th in Test batting.
  • Ryan Rickelton: climbed to 39th.
  • Tristan Stubbs: jumped 16 spots to 47th.
