Srinagar: In a proud moment for Jammu and Kashmir, Dr Suhail Ahmad Mir, a renowned international sports physiotherapist and sports science expert, has achieved a significant academic and professional milestone by earning a research-based Master’s degree in Sports Performance Analysis from Middlesex University (UK) with High Merit.
One of the first professionals from Jammu and Kashmir and among the few in India to accomplish this rare academic feat, Dr Mir completed his degree from the Dubai campus of Middlesex University, which follows the British curriculum. His achievement marks a major step forward in advancing sports science, physiotherapy, and high-performance training standards in the region.
A Trailblazer in Sports Physiotherapy
Hailed as a pioneer in sports physiotherapy and sports performance science, Dr Mir has represented the Afghanistan Senior International Cricket Team as its first physiotherapist from J&K. He has also served as a BCCI-appointed physiotherapist for multiple Ranji Trophy teams, including ARCA and Jammu & Kashmir, along with several other domestic sides.
A former Head of Department (HOD) at SBCC under the Ministry of Health, Saudi Arabia, Dr Mir has earned global recognition for his evidence-based rehabilitation protocols and athlete-centered care.
Transforming Lives Through Evidence-Based Sports Medicine
Through conservative, research-backed prehabilitation and rehabilitation programs, Dr Mir has successfully helped over 6,000 patients avoid surgery, restoring mobility, athletic performance, and quality of life.
His work has earned praise from international cricket icons such as Chris Gayle, Younis Khan, and Hashmatullah Shahidi, who have lauded his expertise in athlete recovery and performance optimization.

Dr Mir envisions establishing Jammu and Kashmir as a National Centre of Excellence in Sports Science and Medicine, addressing a long-standing gap in the region’s high-performance sports infrastructure.
His proposed multidisciplinary high-performance center aims to integrate health sciences, sports science, performance analytics, data science, and research, creating a robust ecosystem to nurture elite athletes and grassroots talent alike.
