Roger Federer Inducted Into International Tennis Hall of Fame Class of 2026

Paris: Tennis icon Roger Federer has been officially elected to the International Tennis Hall of Fame, joining the prestigious Class of 2026. Widely regarded as one of the greatest players in the sport’s history, Federer spent an incredible 310 weeks as World No. 1 in the PIF ATP Rankings and enjoyed a career defined by artistry, dominance, and longevity.

The Swiss maestro finished his career with 103 ATP titles, second only to Jimmy Connors’ 109. Among his achievements are 20 Grand Slam trophies, 28 ATP Masters 1000 titles, and a record-breaking 237 consecutive weeks atop the rankings between February 2004 and August 2008.

Reacting to the honour, Federer expressed gratitude and nostalgia.
“It’s a tremendous honor to be inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame and to stand alongside so many of the game’s great champions,” he said. He added that receiving the news at Swiss Tennis, surrounded by young players at the place where his journey began, made the moment more meaningful.

Federer also paid tribute to those who inspired his career, as his induction call included Stefan Edberg and Boris Becker, both former World No. 1s and Hall of Famers.
“To be recognized in this way by the sport and by my peers is deeply humbling,” he added. Federer plans to travel to Newport, Rhode Island, in August 2026 for the official induction ceremony.

Apart from his on-court brilliance, Federer built a legacy defined by grace and sportsmanship. He was honoured with the Stefan Edberg Sportsmanship Award a record 13 times and remained the ATP Fans’ Favourite for 19 straight years (2003–2021). He also claimed the Year-End No. 1 title five times.

The Class of 2026 will also feature celebrated sportscaster and journalist Mary Carillo, who enters the Hall in the Contributor Category. The official induction celebration will take place from 27–29 August 2026 in Newport.
