Srinagar: In a major embarrassment for J&K as a whole and in particular for J&K Sports, the Chef De Mission of J&K at the 38th National Games Uttarakhandh 2025 has been kicked out of games due to “repeated instances of misbehavior”.

J&K may not have been doing wonders at the Games or been in news for its performances but the incident involving its Chef De Mission has been the talk of whole games. It is the one of the major embarrassing episode of ongoing games that already witnessed a Taekwondo scam.

As per official letter signed by Chairperson GTCC National Games, Sunaina Kumari, J&K chef de mission has been relieved due to multiple instances of misbehavior

“The letter serves as formal notice that, due to repeated instances of misbehavior with other agencies and multiple complaints received, the decision has been made to relieve your CDM of his duties for the 38th National Games. Effective immediately, the deputy CDM will be appointed as the new CDM for the event and will assume all the responsibilities with the position. We believe this decision is necessary to ensure the decorum of the Games,” letter dated Jan 30 to J&K Olympic Association and various concerned reads.

J&K has not been doing well at the Games. They currently stand at embarrassing 23rd position on points table with 2 gold, 2 silver and 4 bronze medals with 7 medals in Wushu alone and one in archery.

As per information, former J&K Bureaucrat was deputed by J&K Olympic Association as the J&K chef de mission and is now back home due to this embarrassing incident, It may have happened first time ever in the history of games that top official of some State/Union Territory was sent packing home.

Meanwhile President J&K Water Sports Association Shafqat Wattali has hit out at J&K Sports Council for bringing in disrepute to whole J&K with the humiliating incident.

“ Chef De Mission appointed by J&K Sports Council to lead sportsmen/women and represent J&K in National Games currently under way in Uttarakhand has reportedly been unceremoniously expelled and sent back home midway due to instances of misbehavior with other agencies and other complaints against him.

This is insulting, humiliating and scandalous,” Wattali wrote on his Facebook page.

“The buck stops with Secretary J&K Sports Council who must be made accountable for this mess. Just imagine the position and morale of our young boys and girls who have gone to compete and do us proud. J&K Sports Minister is duty bound to act now,” Post reads.

“No one should be shielded and any inaction can be interpreted as undue protection of the culprits. It’s a matter of our credibility. A time bound high level enquiry must be ordered and callous officer of the Council must be placed under suspension,” post added.

Meanwhile it is to be seen who had sent the concerned as the J&K chef de mission and who was backing him.
