Abid Nabi signed by Hyderabad for Legends League, becomes first player from J&K to be picked for LLC

Veteran J&K cricketer Abid Nabi has been signed by the Urbanrisers Hyderabad franchise for the upcoming Legends League Cricket (LLC), KSW learned on Monday.

The third edition of LLC, which features top former cricketers from India and the rest of the world, starts September 20. A few days back, the LLC Auction was held to pick players, however, with some spots still left to fill for a few teams, they were given an option to sign players directly.

So as part of that process, Abid, a fast-bowling all-rounder from Srinagar, became the first cricketer from J&K to be picked for the Legends League. He will be part of the Suresh Raina-led Hyderabad team.

Abid first rose the ladder back in the early 2000s when his pace led him to play for India U-19. He was also part of the now-defunct Indian Cricket League (ICL) and had the reputation of being the first J&K cricketer to taste success in top-level cricket.

Abid is interestingly still the fastest to reach 100 wickets in first-class cricket in India. Although he last played for J&K long back in 2017, he has been consistently taking part in local cricket.

Since the last leg of LLC will be played in Srinagar, Abid Nabi’s inclusion will give fans something more to cheer.
