Is it time for JKCA to bring back Parvez Rasool for struggling J&K?

Srinagar: J&K Senior Cricket team have been struggling in National arena from last three seasons while as its former skipper Parvez Rasool is making waves wherever he is playing, recent being Major League Tournament in Sri Lanka.

J&K senior mens cricket teams campaign in Vijay Hazare Trophy one day tournament ended on a disasterous note and before that they had another disasterous show in Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy.

In Vijay Hazare Trophy, J&K finished at sixth place in a group of eight teams. J&K played seven matches in the tournament, winning two, suffering defeat in four while as one was affected by rain.

In Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy, J&K finished at sixth place, just above minnows Meghalaya and Mizoram. They played seven matches, winning three and suffering defeat in four.

Despite possesing one of the best talented lot ever produced by J&K, the J&K Cricket Association (JKCA) has failed to get better results from the team owing to its mishandling and internal politics.

The few persons who run JKCA directly under BCCI have been mismanaging our star players and talented youngsters which has affected performance of almost all the teams in both male and female sections.
Apart from mishandling the current lot and playing team politics, the after affects of which reflect in team performance, the biggest blot or say question mark on current JKCA regime has been sidelining of star cricketer like Parvez Rasool.

In J&K Criccket circles everyone knows that Parvez Rasool has been given cold shoulder and disrespected by JKCA owing to its personal agendas that has no basis if performance is talked about.

In last 10 years, Parvez Rasool has been best all-round cricketer around not only in J&K but in Country. His stats are testimony to his hardwork and JKCA owing to its personal agendas have harmed J&K Cricket a great deal.

Even after removing Parvez from captaincy, the first International cricketer of J&K continued to perform at highest level and only excuse for JKCA to drop Parvez was that the star cricketer missed trials. Really, Does a player like Parvez who has been consistant and has no issues with fitness need to be part of local level trials?.

The important point in all this is that , JKCA from last two seasons have not held an open trial and continued with chosen set of players at all levels. No new face have got the chance to make it into the teams. They have also not held any tournament as well through which players could have come up.

Parvez Rasool Shines in Sri Lanka

Is it time for JKCA to bring back Parvez Rasool for struggling J&K? Stats of Parvez Rasool in Sri Lanka Major Club Tournament.

Meanwhile after been disrespected by JKCA and sidelined, Parve Rasool continued to play List-A and First Class Cricket in Bangladesh and Sri Lanka respectively.

In Dhaka Premier League, Parvez Rasool is a high demand player owing to some memorable performances over the years. This season Parvez went to play Major League Tournament in Sri Lanka for Badruleya Sports Club. The star J&K Cricketer had a majical season with both bat and ball in the tournament. He piled up tons of runs and picked bucket full of wickets.

Parvez Rasool emerged out as top all-rounder of the league. He was amoung top five wickettakers in the tournament and also was amoung top 6 run getters.

In 8 matches Parvez Rasool picked 53 wickets with the average of 23. His best was eight wicket haul in an inning.
In Batting, Parvez scored 625 runs in 8 matches. He scored three centuries and two fifties with best of 124. His average was 52.

Two matches got washed out otherwise the stats would have gone up.

The performance of Parvez in the Major Club 3 Day tournament conducted by Sri Lanka cricket that involved current Sri Lanka International players is another reminder for JKCA to recall former skipper for the upcoming Ranji Trophy tournament.

J&K Cricket team needs stability and Parvez is the one who could bring that in both bowling and batting. JKCA needs to look into cricketing perspective and need to sideline personal rifts and politics.

If performance is base and they really want betterment of J&K Cricket then there is no harm in picking up phone and call up Parvez.

J&K is full of youngsters and they need someone like Parvez around to motivate and guide them. Players like Umran Malik, Abdul Samad and other talented lot need expereinced figure like Parvez around. This current JKCA side lacks that and it has harmed overall performance of J&K team and players. History notes everything and it is to be what this current JKCA regime would be remembered for. So far it has been disastor and but everyone adversity can be turned into opportunity.
