Srinagar: Stressing on the need to back captain fully, former Pakistan all-rounder Abdul Razzaq has suggested PCB to give Babar Azam freehand as a Pakistan team captain.
In an interview with a Pakistan channel, Razzaq cautioned against removing Babar from captaincy and appointing a new leader.
“Look, when you believe that you should try new things, you are thinking about the improvement of cricket. But if you insist on keeping your thoughts limited to removing Babar from captaincy and bringing in a new captain, how will there be any improvement?” Razzaq questioned.
“You should give him [Babar] the free hand, and the controversy regarding his removal from leading the team should end,” he added.
Razzaq said that if the team achieves the top-ranking or performs exceptionally well in upcoming World Cup 2023 scheduled in India, any further debates or controversies regarding his captaincy should be completely eliminated.
“Babar Azam is and will remain the skipper of the national team,” he concluded.
