Srinagar: Former Pakistan skipper Shahid Afridi has lashed out Shaheen Afridi for his performance against New Zealand in the T20 series decider and also advised Shadab Khan to focus on bowling.
In the fifth T20I of the series against New Zealand, Pakistan suffered shock defeat. While Shaheen started off brilliantly , he was thrashed to all parts of the ground in the death overs. Shadab Khan had altogether a dismal series.
“Consistency in line and length is crucial in winning matches. While Shaheen started strong, he faltered when it mattered most, bowling at the wrong areas,” Shahid Afridi said about Shaheen Afridi who is also his son in law.
Former Pakistan star also spoke about Shadab’s struggles against left-handed batsmen.
“Shadab has always been a strong performer in the middle-overs, but struggles against left-handed batsmen. It’s important for him to focus on his bowling, as that is his strength. As a batsman, he should take a backseat. In the end, Shadab’s performance is what matters most and he should strive to improve his bowling to secure his spot in the squad,” he he said.
Meanwhile former Pakistan pacer Mohammad Amir has also come on support of Shadab Khan, terming later as best white-ball cricketer of Pakistan.
